Iaido is a martial art that focuses on awareness and the drawing of the sword quickly, but it encompasses a number of styles of swordsmanship. Iaido's main focus is reacting to an opponent in a manner that is swift and smooth. It consists of four main components:
Nukitsuke: Drawing of the sword
Kiriotoshi: Striking the opponent
Chiburi: Shaking the blood from the sword
Nōtō: Returning the sword to the saya
I look forward to the workshop and using a bokken as practice :)
I can't say I have any questions at the moment however because I know so little about this martial art. I just can't wait to see how it goes.
